Plot:
It's usually the toughest, make-or-break time in a relationship when you meet your other half's parents, but unfortunately for Greg Focker (Ben Stiller), his girlfriend's dad is retired CIA intelligence expert Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro) who never warms to his daughter's new boyfriends - and Greg desperately needs the weekend to go well so he can ask for his daughter's hand in marriage. Can Greg earn enough respect to get himself into 'the circle of trust' before the weekend is out?
So, how does it end?
After he let the cat escape, Greg saves the day by finding one in a local pound and spray-painting its tail. Jack is over-joyed, and Greg is forgiven for the fire - and everything else. They even start to laugh at his jokes, and he is back in 'the circle of trust'. At the family meal, Jack receives a call from a neighbour that the cat has turned up - so the cat Greg took home is an imposter. Knowing something is up, they race back to the house - and find that the stray cat has ransacked the home and torn to shreds the expensive wedding dress. Greg is accused of everything, including lying about his score on the MCATs, and asked to leave. Pam is devastated, but decides to give him a break as its been a tough few days - so she phones a contact to prove that Greg didn't lie about his test scores, and makes her dad feel guilty. At the airport, Greg takes his bag with him onto the plane but its too large to go into the overhead compartment. He gets into an argument with the stewardess and is thrown off the flight after shouting about a bomb. In the holding room he is interrogated by the only expert available - which happens to be Jack. They both come to an understanding to be more tolerant of each other and for Jack to lighten up. Greg asks if he can marry his daughter, and Jack agrees. Greg returns to Jack's house and proposes to Pam. She says yes. Everyone attends the wedding of Pam's sister, which turns out to be a success. As it ends, Jack looks through hidden camera footage in Greg's room - to see that he really did flush the toilet - and has a few CIA self-defence moves of his own!

Comments
And incidently, I hadn't known this while I watched 'Meet the Fockers' first time around, and the second time, I thought HBO had it all wrong when they aired it as 'Meet the Parents'...! And you can't immediately say if it's an entirely different movie or not from first glance...
Good movie for light entertainment!
