LA tough-guy cop John Kimble (Schwarzenegger) has been on the trail of drug dealer Cullen Crisp (Richard Tyson) for years, and finally gets his man behind bars. Without enough evidence to convict him for murder, he needs the testimony of Crisp's ex-wife Rachel who has started a new life in the idyllic city of Astoria, Oregon with their son Dominic .. and $3million of her ex-husband's drug money.
  Kimble and his partner Phoebe O'Hara travel to Astoria, where Phoebe plans to pose undercover as a kindergarten school teacher to find Rachel.  The morning of her first day on the job she falls ill -- so its up to Kimble to lose the gun and start his toughest assignment yet!

Kimble figures out that Rachel is in fact Joyce, the other school teacher he has developed a crush on, and Dominic (his favourite student) is the son of his enemy.
  Crisp the murderer tracks them down and shows up to the school with his mother (complete with bride of Frankenstein type hairstyle).  He starts a fire in the library, and while everyone is evacuating he kidnaps Dominic.  Kimble tracks him through the corridors.  Meanwhile, the bride of Frankenstein spies Phoebe outside and knocks her down with the car.
  Rachel screams when she finds Crisp & Dominic, and is knocked unconscious by the bad guy.  Arnie corners them in the locker room, but the ferret that was hiding in Dominic's jumper bites Crisp on the hand allowing Dominic to get away. Kimble shoots Crisp dead.
  The old mother shows up and shoots Kimble through the shoulder. He crawls away. She sees her dead son, and then goes after Kimble teasing him with some shots close to his head.  Just as she is about to finish him off, Phoebe shows up with baseball bat, knocks her senseless and then says "Not too tough without your car, are ya?"
  Kimble is in hospital recovering, when he visited by Phoebe and her chef boyfriend.
  Later he returns to the school, the kids love him, and Rachel leaves her class to run into his arms.
