'The Champ' Rocky Balboa is now long-retired from the ring, and runs a restaurant in Philly where he spends his time reliving the glory days by retelling stories to customers. His beloved wife, Adrian, has died from cancer and his son (a cowardly little Milo from Heroes) doesn't want to spend time with him. He has a new love interest, but still feels unfulfilled in life.
Mason Dixon (Antonio Tarver) is the current undisputed heavyweight champ, but unpopular with the fans. An ESPN special has shown a virtual boxing fight between Dixon and The Italian Stallion, in his prime, and it shows Rocky to be the clear winner. For much-needed publicity, the offer goes out to Rocky from Dixon's promotional team - and its accepted.
  Let's get it on!!

So, how does it end?

Rocky patches things up with his whiney little son, and then hits the gym with his old trainer Duke and good ol' Paulie.
Dixon promises to go easy on the champ for the first few rounds, to give the fans value for their money, as long as Rocky doesn't throw any monster punches.  Rocky doesn't buy that.
From the bell Rocky gives it his all, even though every blow he receives seems to send him spinning and he's knocked down a few times even in the first round.
He makes it past the first few rounds - and then Dixon damages his hand, Calzaghe-esque. Given his chance now, Rocky sends Dixon to the canvas.
The fights continues on to the very end. Rocky knows the judges will not give it in his favour - so rather than stick around he starts to walk towards the exit, saluting his adoring fans along the way.
The score-cards are in - and even though one judge (who wasn't watching the fight as always happens) gave it to the Rock, Dixon takes it.

The alternative ending still has Rocky near the exit as the results are in - and he takes the decision 2 to 1. He is ecstatic, the crowd cheers, he hugs everyone. Its a huge injustice, but no one minds about that.
