Plot:

Reporter Rebecca Chandler has her heart broken at Christmas time, and to make matters worse is sent by her editor to write about a feel-good Secret Santa story in a quiet little town.  Wanting to make a name for herself, and not feeling in the Christmas spirit this year, she aims to uncover the secret and reveal the identity of the mysterious do-gooder once and for all!

So, how does it end?

As it turns out, the Secret Santa is the owner of the Old People's home, the nice black guy.  She confronts him in his workshop and he spills the beans. He uses the richest man in the village, the ever-popular John Martin Carter, to handle the accounts while he is out of the country on business, to cover his tracks. He asks her not to reveal his secret - but she tells him its too late, and its her responsibility as a reporter.
On her way back from the Gilmore Girls style town to the Indianapolis megacity, she has a change of heart - and tells the editor that she knows the secret, but the secret is safe with her.  She still writes the story, but its a nice sugar-coated feel-good version.
To make things worse for the chief, she quits her job to take a role at the tiny newspaper office in the little town and lives happily ever-after.
