The day of the big heist - Ghost acts as a traffic duty policeman while Paul Walker takes a position with a sniper rifle to take him out if the armored car doesn't show.
The cars show, just in time, they are sent through to the sweet spot laden with explosives - but two cyclists get in the way and are immediately blown apart, and the front truck doesn't fall down the pit.
The 'Takers' panic and open fire on the security guards. Paul Walker rushes onto the scene Rambo style and gets into the second vehicle. He pushes the first into the pit and then, trapped, drives the second one in there too. The Takers fill up their bags with the money and escape through sewer tunnels.
Meanwhile Detective Jack Welles (Dillon) learns from Internal Affairs that his partner has been on the take. He is escorting him on one last run together when they hear about the heist and travel straight to the next underground station, taking a hunch from the subway map at the Russian's apartment.
Welles spies Jesse (dodgy wife-beater Chris Brown), who he recognises from before, and they chase him around town 'parkour' free-running style. To be fair on the guy it's probably the best scene from the movie. Jesse is cornered in a restaurant, but shoots Jay Hernandez and escapes.
Now wanted as cop killers, the gang meet up in a hotel room to find out what went wrong. Ghost leaves to take a shower, but escapes out the window and calls in the Russians.
The Russians don't bother asking questions but take shotguns to the hotel room door and blast their way in. Most of the Takers make it into the other room, but AJ (Hayden Christensen in a stupid hat which will make you want to punch him even more than usual) takes a few rounds to the stomach and doesn't make it. Jake (the FBI dude from Flash Forward) manages to get out the window and sneak back around, taking out the bad guys.
Jake and Jesse return to their luxury pad to find that Lilly has been murdered - and the cops soon show up outside. They both take a drink and then walk outside with guns loaded to go out in a blaze of glory.
Cozier has trouble with his drugged-up sister still, and then Cozier and Walker figure it all out and get to the airport quickly to stop Ghost making off with the money. It's too late as Ghost has killed the money launderer - and there's a showdown with Cozier, Ghost and the detective who has followed Cozier around town (obviously a fan of his turn in The Office). They're all shot - but Paul Walker manages to turn up in time and take out Ghost. They leave Welles to die.
Cozier, Walker and Cozier's sister take the money and drive away to leave us safe in the knowledge that, yes kids, sometimes crime does pay. And seems to pay quite well too.
