Plot:

A prequel to Death Race.  Follows the story of Carl 'Luke' Lucas (Matt Goss - yes, the guy from Bros) who is sentenced to life at the notorious Terminal Island, which earns money for it's governing corporation through PPV 'fight-to-the-death' style cage fights. When ratings drop, September Jones (Lauran Cohan) suggests a new take on the Gladiator combat - the first Death Race!

So, how does it end?

So Luke fights off the others to jump into the Shelby - which is a good job, as that is the one car with his little friend Katrina as his navigator, and his friends back at the pit-crew.

The first race goes well, Luke wins it and there's just 6 competitors left - including the bad guy (Big Bill, in the Dodge Ram) who wants the $1million bounty on his head, and 14K (in the Porsche) - who you'll know from Death Race.

For winning the first heat, Luke is taken from his cell by Ving Rhames, and given his 'prize' - a night with Katrina.

Markus (Sean Bean) then arranges a meeting with Katrina, and offers her freedom for taking out Luke.

Warden Parks is booted out for complaining as September gains more power over the events.

Stage 2 - Same action as we lose a few more.  14K gets into a collision with the Russian guy and bravely steps out the car to die honourably.  Luke rolls in to protect him, shunting the other car against a petrol dump.  14K takes out a lighter and destroys the competitor, and now owes Luke a favour.  Katrina tells Luke that she would never betray him to Markus.

About to drop napalm on Big Bill, they find the car's been sabotaged and they are defenceless.  Big Bill is following with a load of missiles.  Luke sends Katrina up and out the car on an ejector seat. Inside a big hangar, Big Bill finally takes Luke out.  The car erupts into flames, all live on camera, Luke is trapped inside and everyone assumes he has died - including Markus.

Big Bill accidentally kills his pit crew with another missile.  The female navigator is sick of his taunts and stabs him in the eye - and then runs him over to squash his brain like a melon -- you know, just to make sure he was dead.

Luke is rushed to hospital, and induced into a coma.  With over 85% of his body badly burned, he is rejuvenated with cutting-edge medical procedures and wears a mask to hide his identity - becoming the first Frankenstein.

Lists finds out that the fat pit crew mechanic sabotaged Luke's car, so takes a knife to him in the showers - earning his place rightfully on Terminal Island.

Katrina calls in a favour from 14K, who sends his ninja assassins to Markus's place to kill him.

Frankenstein takes to the Mustang for the next championship race (14K won the first by being the only surviving contestant) - and Katrina has a feeling that her man is back in body, but with a different soul.  As the race starts, Luke reverses and spears September, leaving the new Governor (Hennessey) to oversee Death Race.  Viewing figures are through the roof.

Apparently 'Death Race 3' has been given the go-ahead, as a sequel this time to the original. Seeing as though most of the cast died or escaped, it doesn't seem the smartest move. Maybe they'll ditch the cars, take on speedboats or something to make it different!

So at what point does Katrina leave Frankenstein and Case come in? I mean if I am correct there was not just a new actress but also a new character riding with Frankenstein in the first Death Race even when the first Frankenstein (Luke) was driving. So why did Katrina leave and Case rode with him? Also why was Coach in the first movie but without any explanation was he not in the prequel or better yet I should ask if Goldberg was the pit crew leader in the prequel what happened to him that changed and made Coach the pit crew leader in the first one cause it seems to me those 2 characters (Goldberg and Katrina) were not explained why they were not in the original if you get what I mean going by chronological order not movie order.

The movie doesn't make sense. Katrina was told to betray Luke and in return get freedom, but she turned that offer down. In Death Race 1 it shows Frankenstein's partner betraying him in return for freedom. Firstly his partners name isn't Katrina in the first part and secondly if this was a 'new' frankenstein getting betrayed then why did Jason Statham refer to Luke as the 'original frankenstein'
