Plot:

Ryan Bingham (Clooney) lives out of a travel-size suitcase and enjoys his job - helping weak managers to sack their own staff, while moonlighting at self-help seminars with his unique 'no ties' view on life. His aim in life is to reach the Frequent Flyer 10million airmiles mark, something only six others have achieved, but that dream is under threat when a new starter at the company has an idea to save money and ground the staff.

So, how does it end?

Natalie's plan seems to be working and Ryan undergoes a life transforming change where he decides to remain in one place, commit to Alex and reconnect with his family.

He travels to meet Alex and calls by her home unexpectedly - only to discover she is married with a family, and he is instantly dismissed away. He sits alone in his hotel room, and later receives a call from Alex - angry that he might have jeopardized her family, and that if he wants to continue the affair he'll have to play by her rules.

Travelling home, he reaches his 10million airmiles target. Champagne is passed around, and the captain stops by for a chat - and hands him the graphite collector's card.

Back in the office, Ryan decides to do the right thing and finds out that to send his sister and her husband on a round-the-world trip will cost 1 million of his hard-earned airmiles.

The boss Craig walks in and asks Ryan if he remembers anyone who was fired saying they'd jump off a bridge - Ryan denies all knowledge - and learns that Natalie has quit and they are suspending the online plan, sending their staff back in the air.

Ryan writes a letter of recommendation for Natalie, securing her the next job she applies for, and is back at the airport - staring up at the departures board.
