Plot:

A reimagining of the legend. Robin Longstride (Russel Crowe) has fought by Richard the Lionheart's side during the Third Crusade and now finds himself in France fighting against other Christians.  Making a quick escape when the King is killed, they cannot stop an ambush on the King's men returning the crown to England. The one remaining knight - Robert Loxley, who has himself been fatally wounded, begs Robin to bring his sword home to his father in Nottingham.  Seizing the moment, Robin and his men make good with the Knight's equipment and horses, and return to Dover adopting new titles.  Feeling an obligation to visit Loxley's father, events conspire to pitch Robin against the traitor of England and Robin learns more about his own absent father.

So, how does it end?

Learning that his father was a revolutionary and a hero, Robin rouses the crowd with a speech that men in England deserve better rights, and that each man's home is his castle - paving the way for the Magna Carta.  King John agrees a truce with the northern barons and together they head to Nottingham to stop the French marauders, before they quickly about turn and head down to the coast to stop the French attack.  Old man Loxley doesn't make it, killed by the traitor Godfrey, while Marion is rescued by the young outlaws she has been fighting against.

Just in time to reach the White Cliffs, Robin leads his archers to the clifftops while the cavalry swoop down on the landing craft.  Robin soon forgets what he should be doing, and leaves his half of the army to go and somehow catch up to the cavalry ... armed just with a hammer, for some strange reason.

In an homage to The Return of the King, a masked Marion rides out to join the attack leading little boys on ponies. It's ridiculous. Anyway the French are probably laughing so hard at that they are terrible in battle and even Marion gets a few kills.
Godfrey has a wrestle with her and tries to drown her in the sea before Robin shows up.  Godfrey makes good his escape, but Robin the master bowmen fires an arrow at an extreme long distance in the windy conditions that strikes him in the neck.  The French surrender to Robin.

They return as heroes - but Prince John quickly renounces his earlier promise and burns the Magna Carta. Robin is blamed for pretty much everything and it is declared that he will now forever be an outlaw, living in Sherwood Forest with Marion and a bunch of kids.
