Tag-line Who is Salt?

A Russian spy walks into the CIA headquarters to tell them of a plot to assassinate the Russian President and is interviewed by Evelyn Salt (Angelina Jolie). At the end of the interview, he tells them the agent's name that will pull the trigger is 'Salt'.  Salt is immediately locked in a room but both she and the spy escape - and now, hunted by the Government, she must fight to clear her name ... or is she really a double agent?

So, how does it end?

Who is Salt?  Trust me, you won't care either way at the end.  So, the Russian guy who turned up at the CIA headquarters was her trainer who developed little Russian proteges into sleeper agents to infiltrate all aspects of the US government and strike when needed.

With all the world watching, she somehow manages to sneak into the church where the funeral procession is happening for the Vice President and takes out a few guards. She then sets off some charges directly below the lectern so the Russian President falls through and she shoots him - but when cornered by Agent Peabody she doesn't take the shot.

She is taken to a barge to be thanked by her comrades, but kills them all instead after she learns of their next plan to infiltrate the White House.

She turns up in Washington to meet with a mole, and again all too easily gets inside the most closely guarded building in the world while in disguide as a Russian bloke.  They rush the US President to an underground bunker where he is about to launch a nuclear strike in retaliation for being attacked.  At this time Winter (Liev Shreeber? Schreiber?)  turns out to be a Russian agent and kills the bodyguards, and then changes the nuclear targets on to Iran and Mecca.

Salt shows up, and now it seems she is a good guy after all when on the tv it reveals the Russian President was not killed but just left unconscious by a spider venom attack.

Salt gets into the bunker for an almighty battle with Winter and wins - but then agents FINALLY show up and she is arrested. While being transported away, she manages to strangle Winter with her chains before Peabody has a hunch she might be on his side - and receives info that her prints were on the barge.

They have a chat on a helicopter, and then she asks to go free so she can stop the other agents even though she is a serial killer by this point -- and then she jumps for it into a river below.

Normally I'm not a fan of too much dialogue in a movie - but some more would have been nice here. Of course, it didn't help watching this on an early release with Greek subtitles (long story) but it backs up our theory at 'How Does the Movie End' that the more a movie is advertised on imdb, yahoo rollover banners and in cinemas with large cardboard cut-outs, the worse it is.

Ok, so this must have been filmed at the time that Angelina was stick-thin because you just cannot buy that this woman could throw a punch powerfully enough to knock out grown men - and with all the tattoos is probably the reason she wears long sleeves all the way through to hide her arms.  Its not until she has the black wig and about 80 extra pounds on her bones that it starts to get vaguely believeable.  It just doesn't live up to the hype - it's more 'Domino' than '24'.
