Remember Me
Dennis Quaid, Rachel Griffiths, Angus T Jones, Brian Cox
Family 'true life' sports drama about a High School Coach & Chemistry teacher (Dennis Quaid) who realizes his dream to become a Baseball star. When he makes a deal with his team that if they lift the division championship he will try out for the Major League, they climb to the top of the league table, so he has to live up to his end of the bargain.
Absolutely no surprises in this one. Quaid makes it onto a minor league team as a draft pitcher, used mainly for promotional reasons and considers quitting as he misses his family back home in Texas (especially his son - the chubby kid from Two and a Half Men). He finally gets a few games under his belt and then earns a call-up for the big one back in Texas, in front of a packed crowd including his supportive students and family. He is called onto the diamond to face the very last batter of the game - and throws 3 superb fastballs. The batter is out and he is a hero. The press want to talk to him at the end, but he spies his dad (Brian Cox) outside and goes for a talk where the old guy apologises for not believing in him and all that. In the closing titles it says that he played two seasons in the Major Leagues, and then returned to Texas where he still lives.
