Evan Almighty (2007)

Evan Baxter is back, and this time he wants to ""Change the World""! Steve Carell reprises his role from Bruce Almighty, but the only two things that have remained the same are the name and the side parton - this time he is completely different and loveable character, who has left behind the newsdesk to be elected to Congress.  Moving his family to a very nice, new neighbourhood in Washington D.C., he is bullied by an experienced Congressman (John Goodman) to back his petition to take more National Park land and build on it.
Problem is, Evan has bigger issues when God shows up in person - and tells Evan to build an Ark because the rain is coming. What would you do?

So, how does the movie end??

After a scene involving Morgan Freeman as God and Evan's wife (Lauren Graham) in a diner which contains possibly some of the most-profound thoughts you'll hear in a movie comedy, the family return to help Evan - now in full flow as a Noah look-a-like - to get the Ark ready for the big day. It genuinely brings the tiniest tear to my eye every time. But don't tell anyone.

The news crews wait impatiently and a crowd forms as there is a stand-off between the council demolition crew with a court order to dismantle the boat, and Evan's family on board, on the day of the disaster.
There is a downpour of rain - but then sunshine, and the crowd jeer at Evan's actions.
Suddenly the dam further up the valley breaks and an unproportionally large amount of water gushes out into the valley, destroying everything in its path.  The crowd are only too happy to join Evan, his family and the animals on the Ark, and they are swept away towards the big city - stopping just in front of the Congress building.

Congressman Long's plan is exposed, and he can't hide from the mess he has made.

Evan is a hero. While on a camping trip with his family shortly after, he takes time to meet with God again to talk about what happened - and even manages to do his little happy dance for a job well-done.

It all ends with the crew miming to C&C Music Factory's ""Everybody Dance Now!""

'If you pray for patience, does God just make you patient or give you an opportunity to be patient?'
