Predators (2010)

An elite group of fighters - the 'best of the best' in their field of hunting their prey, are taken captive and dropped by parachute onto a foreign land where they each wake-up in mid-freefall.  Before long it dawns on the fighters that the tables have turned -- and they are the prey, against a formidable fighting machine known as 'the PredatorNULL, with little hope of survival.

Our Rating: 7.5/10 - Would be a solid 8 if the lead actor looks like he could have made it past Boot Camp, nevermind be the world's top mercenary!
Watchability: 8/10 - Arnie would be proud

So, how does the movie end??

After the group are attacked by a pack of Predator hounds, they lose Danny Trejo ... and slowly realize that they are on an alien game reserve - and are being hunted.  To have a better chance of survival Royce (Adrien Brody) takes charge and tells them that they'll break some of the rules - by following the trail from the hounds back to the enemy camp ... where they find a ""classic"" Predator who is held captive.

Royce uses the group as a trap to learn more about his enemy -- and that they are facing 3 ""Super"" Predators. They lose the Sierra Leone fighter, but manage to escape -- and meet Noland (Laurence Fishburne), a survivor from an earlier season, who leads them to his metal bunker.

After living on the edge, alone, for a few years he isn't playing with a full sack of marbles and (after taking advice from his imaginary friend) locks them in the bunker and tries to gas them to death. Royce lights a charge to signal the Predators, and to help break them out. The Supers soon show up, and quickly tie up a loose end with Noland before they chase the others.

The Doc gets lost, but the Russian hangs back to repay the favor and save his life, but is gutted by a Predator known as Tracker. The Predator toys with the Russian - but is taken out when the Russian detonates a few Claymore mines strapped to his chest.

Next, in the fields, Hanzo the Yakuza member faces off against a Predator who agrees to fight him blade against blade.  Hanzo is brave, and keeps attacking ... finally winning a move and slicing through the Predator ... but unfortunately takes a mortal wound himself.

Royce, Isabelle and Edwin are the only survivors - until Edwin is injured in a trap. Isabelle refuses to leave him. Royce returns to the camp and frees the captive 'Classic' Predator, who takes him to his ship.  The Classic Predator then faces off against the last remaining Predator, 'BeserkerNULL, as Royce starts the engines.  The Captive doesn't last too long before he is decapitated -- and the Super Predator detonates the escaping spaceship remotely.

Meanwhile, it turns out that Edwin wasn't just a feeble doctor, but an evil and feeble doctor and uses a poison to immobilize Isabelle. Royce shows up just in time and slits his throat, before using him as a trap for the Beserker.

Royce takes off his shirt and starts a few fires, before playing with his enemy and smacking him about the head a few times. The Predator soon comes to his senses and just cannon-blasts Royce to submission - but Isabelle has managed to crawl to her sniper rifle and shoots the Predator, allowing Royce to get closer and slice off his head.

Before the bodies are even cold, they can see more soldiers parachuting down, and decide that their holiday is over and they really should be heading back home now ... .as 'Long Tall Sally' starts to play over the credits,

Random Notes!
Trivia. In case you're wondering, the guy who died when his parachute didn't open was meant to belong to an elite US army division. If only they stuck with him and got rid of Adrien Brody in freefall it would have been a better movie! Harsh, but true.
