Young Mike helps get his son Alex onto the basketball team. After a party at the local bowling alley, he helps his son get a date with one of the cheerleaders by organising a party at his best friend Ned's house. He also sees his daughter in tears after being dumped by the school bully, and invites her along as well. Meanwhile, wealthy Ned has blackmailed the principal (Jan from The Office) into a dinner date in exchange for laptops for every student.
The party is a typical college one and Ned's stuff is getting damaged - probably even the awesome Star Wars Landspeeder bed. Meanwhile the dinner date is going badly until Ned starts to speak in Elvish to the principal, and the two nerds really hit it off.
The party is now out of control. Maggie has taken a liking to her dad, and then when Sarlett shows up Mike makes his move in front of everyone. He is turned down of course, and then slapped by all the girls who took a liking to him. When Neds turns up hoping to get lucky, the Principal sends all her students home and then tells him they can't be together. Mike gets slapped some more.
Next day it's the divorce hearing which they are both late for. Young Mike asks to read a letter, which he does with tears in his eyes (its not even that sad or emotional). Anyway it works. Mike leaves - Scarlett picks up the letter to see that there was nothing much on it and she guesses that some type of voodoo magic has gone on.
Its the basketball game, and the situation is the same as it was 20 years ago. The coach tells Mike that there are some scouts in the crowd. Just after tip off, he sees Scarlett leave the gym again and leaves the game to follow her. Alex takes his place. As he walks by he turns back into Matthew Perry. They kiss and make up.
A little in the future, they are all happy again, even little Ned, and Mike is the High School basketball coach.
