Chris & Lisa Mattson are a newly-married interracial couple that have bought their first home together in a nice LA suburb. When Chris notices a parking ticket on his motor parked outside his own home the next morning from a friendly neighbour who happens to work for the LAPD, they think its a harmless bit of fun - I mean, surely nothing can go wrong living next door to a cop, right?
Our Rating: 6/10 - Quite a good twist on the usual anti-racism theme

When Chris has finally had enough of Abel's constant racist jibes and sheer creepyness he makes his way to a local boozer to drown away his sorrows in peace. Abel follows him inside - and as Chris is about to leave asks him to sit and he'll try to be friendly. He proceeds to tell him about his bad day - that he has been suspended from the Force for excessive ... well, force, and this is the anniversary of his wife's death.
Chris is going through the motions to show his support, he's a nice guy really. Until Abel starts to embellish the story and reveal details that he needn't tell another guy, who hates him, such as that his wife was sharing a car with her white boss, and they were returning from a different part of town together. Obviously we understand where his problems are coming from, but Chris doesn't want to hear any more and leaves.
With Abel's kids staying at his sister-in-laws, he has a little freedom to do his own thing. There is a neighbourhood party by another household, who have been ignored the entire movie, and the Mattson's turn up to talk to some friendly faces and shoot some pool - until Abel walks in. He makes a discreet call, and the chubby drug informant breaks into the Mattson's house through the back door and destroys everything in sight.
Lisa can't stay at the party with Abel around so she decides to go home. Abel panics and phones up his guy, he can't leave in time so hides out in a bedroom. Lisa returns and starts to get ready for a shower - when she sees the intruder and presses the panic alarm.
Everyone at the party wonders what the noise is -- Chris and Abel figure its the alarm and run to the house. Meanwhile Lisa and the burglar and fighting - he soon throws her to the floor knocking her unconscious. As he makes his way out the back, Abel stops him in the backyard and shoots a few bullets into his padded body, knocking him back into the pool.
The police show up and close down the crime scene as Chris waits by Lisa's bedside in hospital. The baby is ok, and they leave the hospital together to collect their belongings from the fire that is raging towards their new home. Abel sneaks into the Mattson's house to try to find Chubby's mobile phone that was not on his body, but needs to get out when he hears them approaching.
Busy discreetly hosing down his roof, Chris goes outside to thank him for shooting the bad guy. Abel doesn't say much. Back inside the house Chris gathers their stuff together and finds a mobile (cell phone for US readers!) that doesn't belong to either of them. Searching through the logs he finds the most recent call list and phones the number -- looking out the window he sees Abel pick up the phone. Ok, surely it would come up with the caller ID -- why pick up the phone?!??
Anyway, he does. Chris panics. Abel puts down the hose -- and picks up the gun!
Inside the house they have a bit of a fight, Chris wins this round. He gives the phone to Lisa and tells her to get to the police. Abel whacks Chris over the head and chases after her, putting a few rounds into the car and making her crash.
Chris runs to his wife's side - but she's fine. Abel keeps firing.
The cops finally show up. Abel hides his gun but Chris is stupid and won't lower his weapon. He's lucky that they are incompetent and goads Abel who finally snaps and takes out his gun - and then the cops open fire. With chopper search-lights hovering overhead, Abel dies alone in the street and the Mattson's begin to wonder who the new neighbours are going to be!
