Outlander (2009)

When a spaceship crash lands to earth, the only survivor - Kainan (Caviezel) soon discovers that he finds himself in Norway during the Iron Age. Travelling across the land, he realises that a dangerous creature called a Moorwen was stowed aboard his ship, and is already fast at work devouring villages of any human meat it can find. This Outlander needs the help of a local Viking chieftain to join him on an epic adventure - to kill a real, fire-breathing dragon before it's too late for mankind.

So, how does the movie end??

The movie really picks up when Ron Perlman's character makes his entrance, it's amazing when one actor can do for a movie.
Kainan directs the Vikings to dig a huge trench, plant a few posts inside and then fill it with oil.
At nightfall, Kainan and Wulfric step out apprehensively as bait for the Moorwen, that is waiting patiently in the woods. It lights up, kills a priest, and then chases them towards the trap. Wulfric is caught and falls, but gets out just in time as the archers light the pit into a huge fiery inferno.

Meanwhile, a baby moorwen has climbed up the well and is chasing the Viking women. It also kills the old King Rothgar.

The mother Moorwen emerges from the pit and kills more Vikings, including poor Gunnar, before suffering a few cuts and making off into the night.

To improve their odds of survival, Kainan dives down to his wrecked ship and salvages some metal that he brings back - but in the meantime Freya is captured and taken to the dragon's lair.

They fashion the metal into a mighty sword, then climb down the well through passages to find the Moorwen. Freya awakes next to a mound of bodies, but manages to be rescued just in time by Kainan and the boys who hand her the new sword to dispatch the baby Moorwen with ease.

They make a run for it, chased by the angry mother, and make it to a waterfall. Freya is helped away to safety, while Wulf is beaten up badly.

Kainan enters the cave again and slices the monster, before it falls from the height of the waterfall to its death below.

Kainan leaves Freya - but destroys the homing beacon as a spaceship was about to land. Freya sees this, and is even more in love with him. It's a good job - her alternative was Wulfric who happened to be her cousin.

As it ends, we're told that Kainan and Freya marry, taking Eric as their son. Kainan shoots the arrow that lights the ship carrying the two Kings away to Valhalla.
