The X Files: I Want to Believe (2008)

Some years after all the old X Files government conspiracy events and trials, Scully is tracked down to a Catholic hospital and asked to find her old partner Mulder, to help the FBI with a new case. It turns out he's pretty easy to find, even though he is an escaped death-row felon, and the FBI 'promise' to drop all charges if he'll talk to a psychic priest (Billy Connolly) and help them find a missing agent.

So, how does the movie end??

Unsurprisingly, Mulder believes the priest is receiving psychic visions, while Scully is sceptical.

Working on a randomised search that isn't explained, the police are sure they have their suspect - because he is a) Russian and 2) works at the hospital as an organ transplant driver. He is tracked to an apartment/office block, but outside gets away and is soon chased by Mulder and the FBI agent Whitney (Amanda Peet). They chase him to a construction site, and Peet is pushed to her gruesome death onto a metal spike.

Following a lead on a drug found in the bodies, Mulder goes to a local store - and only a few seconds later by chance in walks the Russian (Rennie) with a prescription for the exact same drug. Mulder follows - but the Russian is crafty and smashes Mulder's car off a cliff using his snowplough. Mulder of course survives, and stumbles off towards the evil Russian hospital.

Inside the warehouse-hospital he shakes a wrench at the surgeons, who don't speak English, but is soon drugged and taken out back.

Meanwhile, while driving aimlessly past the car wreck, Scully and AD Skinner spy, in the dark, a post box with the Proverbs number the paedophile priest told them earlier. Using that as a definite clue, they stop the car and open the letters. Then, hearing the sound of dogs far away, that's all the proof they need.

Just as Mulder is about to chopped up, Scully smacks the Russian over the head. Skinner gets inside the 'hospitalNULL, freaks out a little at the blinking, decapitated head, and then locks all the surgeons inside the wooden box used for the agent. Scully is then called in to rescue the dying agent, while Skinner walks outside to warm up his old pal.

Later, recovering, Scully tells Mulder that the Priest died of lung cancer, while the head also didn't make it. Mulder goes on about some connection between the two.

Scully then goes to perform surgery on the boy in her care, who should be pretty worried as the cutting-edge surgery is all based around a couple of web pages she picked up while surfing through Google one night. Well, it's not like it's brain surgery, right?!

Random Notes!
More ""CSI"" than X Files. I'm guessing it's disappointing to the old-school fans, and doesn't make sense in relation to the final X Files TV Finale. At least this'll be the end of it - and those fans who demanded another movie will be keeping quiet from now on!
